2011 saw GT Racing UK compete in a fantastic first year for the team, which saw one rider crowned National Champion for Scotland, another winning the Scottish XC Series, a BMBS round 3rd place, numerous regional wins and top performances at the home World Cup and throughout the British Mountain Bike Series.
2012 promises to be even better! With the team switching to all new 2012 GT Zaskar Custom Bikes with 29" wheels to compete with the best our competitors have to offer. New Kit from Scottish cycling clothing manufacturer Endura, new sponsors in the way of Accellerade, Lezyne, Schwalbe, and SRAM as well as continuing support from Muc-Off, Eyewear Outlet, FUSE and Crank Brothers. We've kicked off 2012 with a win at the opening round of the Midlands XC series. Our aim is to race, promote GT Bicycles in the UK and, above all, have fun riding our bikes!

For 2012 I have set myself and few goals, First and foremost I am aiming to regain the NPS overall title and pick up a few wins along the way. Although consistency is key when it comes to a series. Next on my list are the two sprint events – The Red Bull hill chasers and Frome Cobble Wobble, both great events with huge amounts of atmosphere, I rode to 2nd in the finals of the Cobble Wobble last year and will be looking to go one better in both events this year.
This year I will also be competing in my longest off-road event – the 6 day Andalucía Bike Race at the end of February, I think survival will need to be the goal here but should hopefully set me up nicely for the year. Looking forward to another good year with GT Bicycles and the rest of the GT Team.

Reigning Scottish Cross Country Mountain Bike Champ. Discovered mountain biking in 2007 and quickly got into racing soon after. "I've been hooked ever since! I am lucky to have some amazing riding here in Scotland even though it is a bit of a mud bath at times; this helps to increase handling skills plus it really tests Muc Off products! When I'm not on the bike, I work as a fire-fighter in Edinburgh.
For 2012 I am excited to continue to be part of GT Racing UK team and I look forward to representing them at the British Mountain Bike Series, British Champs and of course defending my title as Scottish Champ! I will also be doing the Andalucía Bike race which is a 5 day mountain bike race in Southern Spain as well as some great events such as the Red Bull Hill Chaser. Best go practice my sprint…."

I started mountain biking in the new forest with my dad and his friends. I was asked if I could do the southern xc champs, which had formed that year. That race was an introduction to pain. I finished the race 100m from the line with cramp in both legs lying on the ground. I managed to crawl over the finish, literally! I started mountain biking and have managed to work my way up into elite, which has taken a few years. The biggest and most prestigious race that I have participated in is the Olympic test race, which took place last year. Being able to race along with the best riders in the world, lining up against previous and current world and Olympic champions.
It took place in front of 1000's of people which was awe inspiring. This year I am finishing my final year of uni, though I can't wait to get my teeth into the national xc series. I can't wait for the hill chasers. The thought of tussling up the main Bristol high street with elbows sharpened, against other eager riders. The flood lights guiding the way like a runway into the sky, lined with hundreds if not thousands of people jeering you on. This will be the first time that I have participated in the race and hopefully not the last! I even have a fan base trekking down from Loughborough to support me, talk about adding pressure!

Living on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales lends itself to many things, for me it was mountain biking. I've ridden mountain bikes for as long as I can remember, but I think initially it was fuelled by seeing my uncle drop off a 5ft ledge forest during a N.E.M.B.A downhill race at Gisburn Forest – I was totally hooked. I began racing when I was 13 and now, five years later, I'm riding for one of the top British mountain bike teams. During my short career so far I've extended my Palamares with results such as being 3rd overall in the Youth XC MTB and Cyclocross series.
Last year I was 6th overall in the Junior XC MTB series, with two top five finishes. Previously, I was selected for British Cycling's Talent Team, which opened the door to riding abroad both on and off road. On the road I've represented Yorkshire at the UK School Games and in the Junior Tour of Wales, where I placed 12th overall. Currently I'm still in the junior category and preparing for the cross country season ahead , after having a few easy weeks in January. At the moment it involves endurance training, on and off-road, as well as some more intense interval type training.
